RESEN - MACEDONIA

The little town of Resen is located in the verdant southwest of Macedonia, equidistant between Bitola and Ohrid. A town noted for its moderate climate and clean air, Resen is located in the valley of Lake Prespa to the west and in the shadow of the Pelister Mountains to the south.
The town was first mentioned in the history books in 1337, when it was part of the Macedonian kingdom based in Prilep. It is known specifically for its old architecture from the 19th century “Macedonian Renaissance.” One of the significant buildings in Resen is the Macedonian version of Versailles, known as “Saraj.”
Resen boasts a cultural center housing a rich ethnological and archeological museum collection. The area is known for its delicious apples, honey and wild herbs.
